Ideal for some of that Tibetan yoga practice! But since I do that wearing basically only my underpants, there are strictly no pictures of that little exercise!

A few terraces further down, the misty riverbank is also good for reciting some yidam mantras. (An activity performed with more clothing on, I should add):

I tried to catch a picture of the splashing water sparkling in the low shafts of sunlight, but I’d need a much faster lens to catch that. All the same, I think the picture does show some of the sense of mystery and peace:

The banks are a bit rocky, so you need to give a little careful thought to the matter of what you are going to sit on. This morning the temperature was properly below zero, giving us whitened hills around and ice on the ground:

A good way to start the day, for sure!

Anyway, last weekend I took teachings from Lama Pema Dorje in a form of Tibetan yoga – a relatively gentle form, fairly safe and not “strange and secret”. I wrote about it a little more over on DangZang. Here I will just mention that it was very enjoyable. Apparently Nougat, our large new dog, missed me when I went out on Saturday morning, but then he had some sardines and a bit of a lie down:

… so everything was all right then.

I did, however, notice how security is spreading everywhere. The first time I went to put on my loose-fitting “yoga pants”, I thought it would be discreet to pop out to change in the stairwell. I had just started when a door opened and a man looked out from what I then saw was the “Chinese Massage Parlour”. I had not noticed the dome of the security camera in the ceiling, so I guess he wondered what I was up to. But no harm done! Lesson: examine environment before taking trousers off. What is a Chinese massage parlour anyway?

I’ve also heard from an old Oxford buddy, Keith Bloomfield, recently retired from being UK Amassador in Kathmandu, who sent me a link of a singing friend from there, who does sound as if she has a really nice voice: Telepathy
